Europe’s largest coffee trade show took place from June 20-23 attracting larger crowds than ever.

World of Coffee is an essential event for coffee professionals, gaining a loyal audience from the global community that regard it as a must on the coffee event calendar. Presented by the Speciality Coffee Association (SCA), the event has more than doubled in size over the past 5 years.

Eversys and LaCimbali exhibited at this year’s show as part of the Automating Excellence Space. The purpose of this section of World of Coffee was to show off the exciting new automated technology available in the market. Eversys featured Matt Perger demonstrating the brand new Cameo, whist LaCimbali promoted their S30 super-automatic. Eureka also exhibited their latest products including the Olympus High Speed grinder and new Mignon range.

Topping the highly anticipated events at this year’s exhibition was the 19th annual World Barista Championship spanning across the four days. The top 56 baristas from all over the globe participated with the event streamed live to over 120 countries. Poland’s Agnieszka Rojewska claimed first place as the new world champion, with Australia’s Craig Simon from Veneziano Coffee Roasters finishing at 7th. The Barista Championship Team Competition was awarded to Team Steam, a group of 6 baristas that included Craig Simon.

Each year, SCA’s Best New Product competition recognises new products that represent quality and add value to the industry. Nominated products are judged on their innovation, design, education, agro-ecology and science. Winners at World of Coffee 2018 were:

It has been announced that the 2019 instalment of World of Coffee will be hosted by Berlin, gathering in Germany’s capital to once again propel the industry forward.
